Javier Carrillo Hermosilla

Professor of Economics and Environmental Management at IE Business School, Javier Carrillo has dedicated the last few years to researching sustainable technological change and new management models that address the environmental challenge in an innovative way. Dr. Carrillo has used the IE Centre for Eco-Intelligent Management to channel his efforts into his studies of companies that are at the forefront in the field of environmental sustainability and which organize sector-specific meetings and summits where leading corporate, academic and political players meet.

His advances in the field are expounded in numerous articles and works on sustainability, technological change and economic development, published in specialized journals like the Journal of Energy Policy, Journal of Ecological Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Economic Issues, Journal of Asian Business, Revista de Economía Industrial, Revista Política Exterior, Revista Interdisciplinar de Gestión Ambiental, Revista Cooperación Internacional, etc. Furthermore, he regularly contributes to leading newspapers and media (BBC, Financial Times, TVE, Antena 3, Expansión, El País, ABC, El Mundo, etc.) and participates as a speaker in conferences on business and environment.

Professor Javier Carrillo holds a PhD in Economics from the Universidad de Alcalá (Madrid) and an MBA with Honors from IE Business School. He is also Honorific Research Professor of the Universidad de Alcalá; Independent Expert, assisting the European Commission with the evaluation of FP7 proposals for Theme 6 “Environment (including climate change)”; Member of the Academy of Management (Organizations and The Natural Environment division and Technology & Innovation Management division); Member of the International Society for Ecological Economics; and Lifetime member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society (the international honor society for collegiate schools of business)
